Welcome!

The Boone Bicycle Initiative is a community‐based organization dedicated to the increased use of bicycles for commuting in and around Boone, by addressing safety and awareness while distributing bikes at little or no cost to members of the community. In doing so we hope to crdeate positive social, environmental, and economic change.

Our shop is located within the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts. We're on the lowest floor in the rear of the building. The street address is 423 W. King St. and Google Maps can help get you here!

Here are a few things we do at the Boone Bicycle Initiative:
∙ help get out affordable bikes for short-term rental.
∙ educate people about safety and responsibility.
∙ basic maintenance on our rental bikes.
∙ make workshops and programs available to the public.

A few of the things that we don't do (Boone's great local bike shops exclusively take care of these):
∙ we don't fix your bike (unless it's a rental).
∙ we can't order parts for you.
∙ we can't build your new wheel.

We're not looking to compete with local businesses. Instead, we hope to help local business by getting more people interested in bikes.
